[marron]Abstract[/marron]
In ‘Soziale und sexuelle Ethik in der Tagespresse’ Jahr calls on educators and ethicists to not just publish in academic journals or debate in their close inner circles, but to use modern media, in particular to mass media, to form moral thoughts and attitudes and to contribute to ethics education. Long before we had academic and political discussions about the origin and course of public opinion, but at a time when secular and fascist ideologies started to take public opinion hostage in the way the Fascists did, Jahr recognizes very clearly this new battle ground over culture, ethics and civilization in the coming age of information. Ethics and bioethics are not private matters, but belong into the public realm. He holds, that the active use of modern mass media is an obligation and a mission for ethicists and bioethicists. Who in the 21th century would disagree?
