Summary:
The text is the transcription of an oral intervention in front of university students, in 2005, coinciding with the repeal of the Full Stop and Due Obedience laws. A crucial scene from the film “Sophie’s Choice” is analyzed to present, on the one hand, the core of impunity, and on the other, the impossible nature of the decision with which the protagonist is confronted. From this initial outline, different theoretical points are developed about human choices and the position of psychoanalysis regarding them.
Class given by Alejandro Ariel in the Chair of Psychology, Ethics and Human Rights, Faculty of Psychology, UBA, on June 15, 2005. Transcription by Guadalupe Ceña with review by Juan Jorge Michel Fariña, to whom the introduction also belongs, which We reproduce to historically and politically contextualize Alejandro Ariel’s intervention.
