Summary:
The present article addresses, from a genealogical perspective, part of the life history of de Adrián Elizabeth Baraldo (AE), whom I interviewed in a master’s thesis research that had as its main objective to investigate the subjective affectations produced by prison. This research is qualitative in nature and articulates sociological theory and psychoanalysis. Furthermore, in this article, I extend a bit further beyond the results of that research with work carried out at different moments in the prison context, and articulating them with other social and historical moments of prisons in Uruguay. It addresses prison erotics and the possibility of shifts of pleasure from practices that allow the subject to question themselves in relation to the truth. AE allows us to think about the «care of the self» or epimeleia heautou (Foucault, 2021) as an attitude towards oneself, others, and the world within the prison context, and about the fissures that, despite everything, can still be produced within it.
