Over more than 50 years, Deligny worked with children and young people on the margins of society, with what from the early 1940s onwards was known as misfit children. Each time, these were what he called ‘attempts’. Deligny - cartography - cinema - autism - mis-adaptation This article examines Deligny’s attempts to care for language-deprived autistic children in France from the late 1960s onwards, and in particular the use of artistic tools in this experimentation.
